When Lacee sent me the outfits for her session in Bloomfield, I said "Bring your guitar". After all, with the outfits paired with the white boots and the location... yes, a guitar would be cool to include in her session. What I didn't know was the fact that she did have access to a guitar and not just any guitar. It was a Takamine guitar... a brand of acoustic guitars that I have loved since the early 90's. I used to play guitar and bass guitar quite a bit and I also worked in a music store for 5 years. Seeing this beautiful guitar come of it's case was very exciting (and yes, I played a few chords on it).
Excuse my excitement about the guitar for a moment and let me get back to the reason for this post. Props make a huge impact on your photo session. They give you something to do with your hands. They can tell a story or help set the mood for the scene. And I promise you, I will be very careful with your props. Just ask Lacee how careful I was with that beautiful Takamine guitar that sounded so good... oops, there I go again. Bring props that fit your style.
In the picture above, Lacee's mom, Brooke, even brought some money to put in the case as if Lacee was singing on the street and getting tipped for doing such a great job. The sign over her right shoulder originally said "No Smoking" but I changed it. Lacee and the guitar put on a great show in these photos.
