Class of 2026, get ready to start "Senior Season '26". It's your turn to shine in the spotlight. Every year I am asked "When is the best time to start my senior portrait sessions?" and the answer is "In June". Why? 

1. The colors. If you want to be surrounded by nature like this photo of Sammie, then June is much greener than July and August. June gives you bolder colors to work with. June combined with a fall session gives you two totally different looks.

2. The temperatures. June is not typically as hot as July and August. If you get too hot, your face turns red, you begin to sweat and and your hair doesn't hold as well. (This is why we encourage you to shoot early in the day during the summer months.)

3. Your skin. In June, your tan is fresh but in July and August, you may have drier skin or extreme tan lines. Summer is hard on your lips, too. Stay hydrated to prevent chapped lips. 

4. Your schedule. Why not schedule your first session before your schedule gets busy with vacations and other plans? Enjoy your summer and plan ahead.
